John Psiharis is the President/CEO of J. Psiharis and Associates. Most recently he served as the Executive Director of the Bosnian and Herzegovinian American Community Center in Chicago. Prior to that he was the Senior Services Director, Hyde Park Neighborhood Club

(HPNC) (2002-2005). He was the Founder, past President  (1982-1986) and Executive Director/ CEO of Greek-American Community Services (GACS) (1986-2001). Founder and twenty year board member of the Greek-American Nursing Home Committee. John is a founder, past board member and two-time past president of the Coalition of Limited English Speaking Elderly. He is also co-owner of Little Helpers,Inc.


In his capacity at GACS, John oversaw the development of a newly formed organization into a multi-faceted community service agency that annually impacted the lives of over two thousand individuals. He developed Northwest Chicago Senior Care, the first adult day

center to serve Chicago's northwest side, created an acclaimed Cultural and Arts Program and initiated an array of programs and services to meet the needs of the community. Under his initial leadership, GACS launched the Greek-American Nursing Home Committee as a sister organization that went on to open a 204-bed geriatric care facility in Wheeling, Illinois.


Among his accomplishments at HPNC were the doubling of the number of participants served by its Adult Day Center, expansion of the community's Senior Drop-In Center and oversight of the first comprehensive assessment of the needs of older adults who live in

Hyde Park.


John was appointed by three Chicago mayors to serve as a member of the Community Development Advisory Committee, chaired a Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs grants committee for three years and was twice elected as a community representative to the Local School Council for William Howard Taft High School.. He received a B.A. Degree from National Louis University and completed work towards an M.P.A (in Human Service Administration) at Roosevelt University.
